When you click the link to ryan2300, the computer sends a message to your router asking for the website. The router looks at the list of computers on the network, and if one fits the URL, it redirects there. The link doesn't work because your router doesn't have access to ryan2300, which is on my network, and protected by a firewall. Only my computers can access the site.
